“WHEN BELIEFS COLLIDE”
The Christians was part of a pair of staged readings and discussion about the clash of beliefs within a faith culture.
Twenty years ago Pastor Paul’s church was nothing more than a modest storefront. Now he presides over a congregation of thousands, with classrooms for Sunday School, a coffee shop in the lobby, and a baptismal font as big as a swimming pool. Today should be a day of celebration. But Paul is about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundations of his church’s belief. This play is about the culture of faith and the trouble with changing your mind. The play premiered in New York City in 2015.
WHAT’S A “PODPLAY”?
A 9th Hour “PodPlay” is what we’ve branded as our staged readings in the past, a stationary performance of a play in a bar, café, gallery, church, or other similar venue, in which we’re able to move in and out in the same day. A “PodPlay” is therefore typically an evening in an intimate setting or cozy venue (sometimes with food and drink for purchase or provided by us) while actors perform a play in the style of a staged reading, followed by a facilitated discussion with interesting guests about the themes and questions from the play.
