9th Hour is seeking new scripts from writers and theatre creators which contain themes and ideas within the company's mandate of exploring faith, spirituality, and the human experience. Examples could be scripts that deal with justice, forgiveness, vengeance, spiritual themes in general, or ideas about sexuality, gender, being human, Beauty, Goodness, Truth, interconnectedness, theological questions, clash of worldviews, and all sorts of other stories about historical people or fictional characters, events, conflicts, and tensions that arise within religious communities, people of faith, or modern society at large. Check out our website for the kinds of stories we've produced in the past.

The script should lend itself well to either physical theatre, ensemble theatre, or physical ensemble theatre. The script need not be complete and could be partially finished or in a rough draft form. The selected script(s) will be developed by our professional ensemble of performing artists in a series of weekly workshops in central Ottawa in the spring of 2026 with the possibility of being produced by the company in the future if mutually agreeable between the artist and the company.

Please submit scripts and any questions to info@9th-hour.ca

The deadline for submission is March 31st, 2026. Please note that while all submissions will be reviewed and considered, only those selected will be developed further by the company. We thank you in advance for your passion, vulnerability, interest, and creativity.
